Ricoh Corporation Introduces Ra2k Integration For Intelligent Print Data Stream
West Caldwell, NJ, October 2, 2003 - Ricoh Corporation, the leading provider
of digital office equipment, today introduced the RA2K software solution,
which allows users to send print jobs from third party software to a Ricoh
print device for immediate output. Along with the RA2K solution, Ricoh has
also introduced Output Management Software (OMS) and Document Output
Technology (DOT).
RA2K Integration is an internal software solution that resides on the hard
drive of Ricoh print devices and allows users of IBM's zSeries (S390) and
iSeries (AS/400) to send print jobs from AFP/IPDS Software to Ricoh devices
for immediate output. The software helps users manage all printing
requirements, whether the print environment is centralized or distributed,
while maintaining consistent high-quality document output. Additionally,
users of the software can access all of the technologically advanced
capabilities of Ricoh print devices without any application changes.
"RA2K software plug-ins enable Ricoh's Intelligent Network Output Devices to
seamlessly integrate with customers' applications, enabling them to
efficiently manage all printing requirements while supporting their bottom
line," said Hede Nonaka, Vice President of Marketing for Ricoh Corporation.
To compliment its existing line of support software for hosted connectivity,
Ricoh also introduced Output Management Software (OMS) and Document Output
Technology (DOT). OMS is a host-based software solution that takes
EBCIDIC/ASCII iSeries information and creates customized forms and reports
that can then be printed on existing Ricoh LAN output systems. Similarly,
users of foreign software that want to format data, receive applications or
convert documents on a Ricoh device can do so with DOT, a middleware
solution that lets users produce files without having to program in a
proprietary language.
