W. Caldwell firm's exec accused of sex crimes
MONTVILLE: The president of West Caldwell-based Ricoh Corp. was charged with sexually assaulting an 8-year-old child between 2001 and earlier this month, and having inappropriate contact with a girl in the mid-1980s and another in the mid-1990s, authorities said yesterday. James Ivy, 52, who lives in Montville's Pine Brook section, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree crime, as well as sexual contact and child endangerment, said Lt. Jeff Paul, spokesman for the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
Ricoh Corp., a 39-year-old U.S. company with headquarters in West Caldwell, is a diversified office-automation equipment and electronics provider with annual sales in excess of $2.2 billion.
Ivy, who was arrested Feb. 10, was accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in his care. He also was charged with having sexual contact with a girl, now 18, between 1992 and 1998, Paul said. A third victim, now 20, was molested between 1984 and 1985, the lieutenant said.
Ivy was released from custody after posting $200,000 bail. His attorney, Gerard Hanlon, said he could not comment on the charges. Russell Marchetta, a spokesman for Ricoh, said the firm would not comment on a personal matter.
