HP Inc. to launch new subscription model
Staples, Inc. will be first to offer new printing solution, called HP+ that combines hardware, Instant Ink, and an app, called HP Smart App
o Later will be available from HP dealers and HP Direct
- Plans start as low as $0.99 per month for inkjet devices and $1.99 for toner devices
o Users select monthly plan based on their estimated monthly print volume and sign up after they purchase a qualifying device
Example is LaserJet plan for 1500 pages/month for $25.99/mo
o HP monitors the customer’s device via the Internet
o Unused pages are rolled over into next month
o If customer uses up pages allowed, can purchase additional pages
o Genuine HP toner or ink cartridges delivered to door before they run out
- Connected to cloud feature automatically detects and possibly fixes connectivity issues
- Monitors system to detect and mitigate malware attacks
- Private Pickup feature releases document to user only when user is at device
- Forest First feature where every page printed is balanced off with investments to protect
and restore forests
