PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 6, 2010 - HP today announced the appointment of David Scott as senior vice president and general manager for HP StorageWorks.

In this role, Scott will lead the HP StorageWorks organization worldwide and report to Dave Donatelli, executive vice president of Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking at HP.

“Storage continues to be a critical aspect of IT, especially as organizations reduce the complexity of their IT environments, increase their use of virtualization and move towards cloud computing models through HP’s Converged Infrastructure,” said Donatelli. “David’s leadership at 3PAR and previously at HP will be critical in taking HP StorageWorks to the next level.”

Scott brings 27 years of experience in the enterprise storage, software and server market to HP. As president and chief executive officer of 3PAR, he guided the company through the development and introduction of “utility storage,” a new category of storage designed for service provider and cloud computing environments. During his decade-long tenure, 3PAR grew into a global company serving large and midsize enterprises, government agencies and service providers around the world.

“To help clients address the top storage challenges today, HP has made some key product introductions this year such as P4000 SAN for virtualized environments, StoreOnce for enterprise-wide data deduplication and the X9000 for scalable network-attached storage,” said Scott. “Now with 3PAR’s lineup, HP has significantly enhanced its intellectual property in storage, allowing the company to improve how organizations harness the power of technology to drive their businesses.”

Prior to 3PAR, Scott was general manager of the XP enterprise storage business for HP StorageWorks. He also held various marketing, business strategy, sales and systems engineering positions across HP’s enterprise server, storage and software business units.
