Enrique Lores spoke at recent Cowen Technology Conference

  • Some of HP’s providers are experiencing capacity problems, and therefore HP does not have enough of unique computer chips used in some of its MFPs and printers
  • To alleviate problem, is now redesigning its boards to use new chips, which help supply in “a couple of quarters’
  • Anticipates that the amount of printing in the office will be around 80% of what it was before pandemic started
  • Will be tightly managing inventory for supplies in the channel
  • Going to keep inventory low for the foreseeable future
  • “In print, we were making all the profit on supplies because every time we were selling a printer, we were losing money”
  • “goal is to shift as many consumers as we can to the subscription model”
  • Can use subscription platform to sell additional services
  • Has been testing adding paper to the subscription
    • “We will increase the amount of money that we maker per customer”
