Enrique Lores spoke at recent Cowen Technology Conference
- Some of HP’s providers are experiencing capacity problems, and therefore HP does not have enough of unique computer chips used in some of its MFPs and printers
- To alleviate problem, is now redesigning its boards to use new chips, which help supply in “a couple of quarters’
- Anticipates that the amount of printing in the office will be around 80% of what it was before pandemic started
- Will be tightly managing inventory for supplies in the channel
- Going to keep inventory low for the foreseeable future
- “In print, we were making all the profit on supplies because every time we were selling a printer, we were losing money”
- “goal is to shift as many consumers as we can to the subscription model”
- Can use subscription platform to sell additional services
- Has been testing adding paper to the subscription
- “We will increase the amount of money that we maker per customer”
