HP Helps ViaWest Beat Cloud Competition
Dec 13, 2011 PALO ALTO, Calif., HP today announced that ViaWest has selected HP 3PAR Utility Storage, based on HP Converged Infrastructure, to stay ahead of competition as a cloud services provider.
HP 3PAR Utility Storage will serve as the backbone of ViaWest’s KINECTed™ Storage solution, a new managed cloud-storage service for customers seeking more efficient data center strategies.
ViaWest, one of the largest privately held data center service providers in North America, owns and operates 22 data centers. The company provides colocation, complex hosting, cloud and managed services to businesses of all sizes nationwide.
With the market trending towards an outsourced operating expense model versus a capital expense infrastructure investment, ViaWest identified an opportunity to grow its business by offering a new cloud service called KINECTed Storage, which provides cloud-based storage and computing services.
Upgrading to HP 3PAR storage and HP ProLiant DL360 G7 servers enabled ViaWest to launch its new service and offer customers the newest storage functionalities through a cost-effective, cloud computing model.
The combination of HP storage and server offerings created a single platform that enables ViaWest to efficiently manage its own data center while providing secure, real-time data management capabilities without interrupting its clients’ daily workflows.
