Hospital admits its printers/MFPs were hacked

Tri-City Medical Center of Oceanside, California, announced it was hit by a cyber attack

  • During attack; “a note printed out of very printer at the same time and then everyone was running around shutting off printers”, according to article in San Diego Union Tribune newspaper
  • 100 employees were apparently laid off as a result of the attack
  • Has not yet stated how many patients had their personal medical info (aka PHI or protected health information) stolen as a result of ransomware attack by hackers
  • (did not state what brand of printers and MFPs that hospital uses)
