The Birmingham office of The Stewart Organization has been acquired by Global Imaging Systems, a Xerox Corporation.
The Alabama company's CEO Vince Caltagirone confirmed the transaction this week.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The Stewart Organization has provided office equipment such as printers and copiers to Birmingham area businesses for over three decades. Caltagirone said customers can expect the same quality of business enjoyed for the past 33 years plus a few benefits that arise from the merger.
"It gives us this reach now," Caltagirone said. "We can go everywhere Xerox is, and Xerox is everywhere."
Caltagirone said if a Birmingham company has Xerox machines, The Stewart Organization can now serve the local office plus other branches in other cities.
"We still have the local flavor everybody wants," Caltagirone said.
Global Imaging Systems is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xerox, and has acquired The Stewart Organization as part of its model of aligning itself with local dealerships that have had success and have potential for future growth.
Caltagirone said the extra layer Global Imaging Systems and Xerox provide gives the company that chance for growth.
