Shanghai, Nov. 1 (Jiji Press)--Japanese copier maker Fuji Xerox Co. plans to increase its direct sales in China as the Chinese government is set to deregulate the market later in the year, President Toshio Arima said Monday.
The company aims to rack up 80 pct of its sales in the country through direct sales, Arima told a press conference. To this end, it plans to increase sharply its sales footholds from 16 over the next three years, he said.
Fuji Xerox has mapped out the business plan as the market will be deregulated substantially in late 2004 as a result of China's accession to the World Trade Organization in late 2001.
Fuji Xerox will also increase the number of sales persons and set up facilities across the nation to train them, Arima said.
He said the company, affiliated with Fuji Photo Film Co. , plans to sell high-performance copiers to foreign companies operating in China.
Fuji Xerox now produces about a half of its products in China. It plans to raise the ratio to 90 pct by next fiscal year.
The company has recently boosted the production capacity of Fuji Xerox of Shanghai Ltd., a Chinese subsidiary that produces digital copiers, to 300,000 units per year from 90,000 units.END
