TOKYO, – JFE Engineering Corporation signed a five-year document outsourcing service agreement with Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., which commenced the service in November 2010 on the group-wide basis at JFE Engineering’s head office, operation bases and affiliates’ premises in Japan.

Fuji Xerox implemented its Managed Print Service (MPS), XOS, at JFE Engineering’s 21 operation bases and six affiliates across the nation in an effort to achieve higher business efficiency and lower operational costs. The service delivers a uniform output environment at all business sites, and outsourcing the management/administration of print devices, procurement of consumables as well as other document-related work has allowed JFE Engineering to streamline its business operations, and allocate greater management resources to its main line of business. Further, using the IC card authentication function on the installed multifunction devices not only ensures security, but also reduces paper use by restraining unwanted outputs.

With advanced technologies in the environmental and energy fields, JFE Engineering is making active efforts to build an infrastructure-developing business both at home and abroad, contributing to building a low-carbon and recycling-oriented society. At the same time, it implements initiatives for reducing waste and energy consumption at its own operation bases. In order to help them further promote such activities, Fuji Xerox provides XOS, which analyzes a company’s business processes, output device usage and user feedback to achieve overall device optimization and control, thereby contributing to the mitigation of energy consumption and paper usage. Fuji Xerox has successfully reduced JFE Engineering’s overall print life-cycleNote 1 energy consumption (the energy required from device manufacturing, use and disposal) by 43 percent and greenhouse gas emission (CO2 equivalent) by 80t-CO2 annually.

Meanwhile, JFE Engineering is reinforcing its solution-providing approach, so it requires high-quality, convincing document creation capacity. Going beyond merely providing XOS, Fuji Xerox handles document production activities for all business processes at the Document Center that it has set up within JFE Engineering to aim at strengthening customer appeal together with the company. Specifically, the Document Center handles printing of drawings as well as copying and binding of proposal documents, technical documents, and final schematics. It plans to expand its operations to contribute to reinforcing JFE Engineering’s sales and marketing capabilities in the area of document-related operations.

The introduction of this comprehensive document outsourcing service will save JFE Engineering approx. 100 million yen or 25 percent year-on-year in its annual TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of document-related operations as well as office output devices throughout their life-cycles from introduction to management, operations and disposal.
