Epson Takes Over University Print/Copy/Scan Project

  • Current Contract: University's print and copy contract with Konica Minolta ends July 2024.
  • New Devices: Transition to energy-efficient Epson devices (WorkForce Enterprise AM-C5000 and WorkForce C579R) supported by Carbon Group UK.
  • Transition Dates:
    • Start: 26th June 2024
    • End: 10th July 2024
  • Device Replacement: Konica Minolta devices replaced; some will remain (list available).
  • New Print Queues:
    • Print-Mono-Epson
    • Print-Colour-Epson
  • Transition Expectation:
    • Minimal disruption; Digital and Information Services ensuring smooth transition.
    • Support via Carbon Group UK; QR codes on devices for issue reporting.
    • Training sessions on 3rd July at SDRL, 11:00am or 2:00pm.
  • Key Benefits:
    • Consolidation to 2 device types.
    • Devices print in color and scan; AM-5000 prints and scans A3.
    • Heat Free Technology: 86% sustainability savings.
    • Increased speed: 50 pages per minute print, 120 images per minute scan.
    • High-capacity ink cartridges.
  • Sustainability: Significant annual energy savings; aligns with University 2040 sustainability goals.
  • Cost Adjustments:
    • Increased cost per copy from June 2024 due to higher expenses.
    • Scanning services remain free.
  • Old Devices Collection:
    • Begins with hard drive removal, followed by device removal over 3 weeks.
    • Overlap of up to a week for collections after new installations.
  • Overall Impact: Enhanced efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of print, copy, and scan services. Cooperation and patience appreciated during the transition.
