PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 26, 2010 – The CEO CFO Group’s monthly luncheon in Las Vegas will have Ed McLaughlin, President of Sharp Imaging America, speak about the dangers of their office copier to their financial health. This business development and networking event gives middle market and large businesses the opportunity to get together to build relationships and generate revenue with members.

Mr. McLaughlin will address the group about how a common office staple, the copy machine, could be a threat to your confidential information. Since 2002 most digital copiers include a hard drive. It stores an image of every document your office machine has scanned, e-mailed, or copied.

Sharp commissioned a survey in 2008 on copier security. The results were that 60 percent of Americans are not aware that copiers store images on the hard drive. Sharp has tried to warn consumers about how a simple act of copying can bring on substantial problems.

“All businesses need to be aware of the potential for theft of their confidential financial and personal information,” said Frank Spady, CEO of the CEO CFO Group. “A mere repair, disposal, or sale of a copy machine can present a multitude of security problems.”

CBS News covered the topic with Mr. McLaughlin on April 15, 2010. Sharp has a product that will automatically erase an image from the hard drive. It is reasonable priced and an invaluable tool for protecting information like social security numbers, bank accounts, tax returns, and more.

An industry veteran, Mr. McLaughlin has more than 35 years of experience and is responsible for the U.S. sales and marketing of Sharp’s broad base of products. His expertise focuses on the copier business, multifunctional products, facsimiles and software solutions. He has held sales and management positions with Fortune 500 companies, including the 3M Company.
