Ramsey, N.J. – November 30, 2009 – Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta), a leading provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies for the desktop to the print shop, today announced the availability of eCopy ShareScan® for integrated Konica Minolta multifunctional printers (MFPs – print, copy, fax, scan all-in-one system) through Konica Minolta’s bizhub® Extended Solution Technology (bEST) Developer Support Program. Launched earlier this year, the bEST program enables developers to adapt existing applications to Konica Minolta devices or use successful Konica Minolta technologies, such as bizhub Open API, to create innovative solutions to previously unresolved challenges.
The new document imaging software is available via the bEST program, and enables Konica Minolta’s customers to use eCopy ShareScan without any additional hardware at the Konica Minolta bizhub® MFP, providing lower total cost of ownership. Customers now can access eCopy ShareScan directly from the bizhub MFP touch screen, providing businesses with greater workflow efficiency by converting paper documents into easily managed digital files.
The eCopy solution transforms full-color or black and white documents into electronic images that are easily shared and distributed for increased productivity. In addition, the solution helps speed information exchange with its support of scan-to-Email, fax, folder, desktop or printer functions, and popular content management and collaboration software such as EMC Documentum and Microsoft SharePoint.
The new software solution enables IT administrators to more easily manage document scanning functionality from a central location, decreasing administration costs. Customers can choose from two configurations to this important integration platform – eCopy ShareScan Essentials or eCopy ShareScan Suite – both of which provide cost-effective alternatives for customers to address their specific document management environment.
“Customers will quickly realize the benefits of the eCopy ShareScan within our bizhub MFP devices and the power of our partnership with eCopy,” said Kevin Kern, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc. “With these integrated applications, businesses will not only achieve improved operational efficiency, but also the cost benefits of a streamlined workflow, and yet another reason to count on Konica Minolta.”
BERTL, a leading industry analyst firm, had a chance to review the integrated solution prior to launch.
“Konica Minolta and eCopy have teamed up to deliver one of the most impressive scanning solutions offered in today’s market that will surely stand out from the competition,” said Hugo Palacios, Senior Analyst, BERTL, Inc. “End-users will appreciate the exceptional ease of use and performance of this scanning solution, as well as the unprecedented level of flexibility it provides corporations in today’s ever changing business environment.”
eCopy ShareScan for integrated Konica Minolta MFPs provides customers with many advantages including:
Reduced hardware – Eliminates the need for additional hardware at the Konica Minolta bizhub MFP, thereby reducing maintenance and freeing up physical space.
Centralized administration – Enables IT administrators to easily manage the scanning functions at multiple remote devices, configure connector profiles, and deploy changes all from a single administrative console.
Multiple product configuration options - Provides the productivity enhancements of sophisticated document imaging software at price points that will provide quick return on investment.
“Our joint technology provides a high level of application connectivity and includes out-of-the-box integration to popular business applications including Microsoft SharePoint and Exchange, EMC Documentum, OpenText Livelink eDOCS DM and Autonomy iManage Interwoven,” said Robert Weideman, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Document Imaging Division. “We anticipate large workgroups and enterprises will quickly realize the power of integrating Konica Minolta bizhub MFPs with these applications and will move to take advantage of the improved operational efficiency and streamlined workflow that our products deliver.”
