Nashua, N.H., October 6, 2008 - eCopy, Inc. today announced eCopy PaperWorks Plus, PC software that enables office workers to convert electronic and paper documents into searchable, secure and editable Portable Document Format (PDF) files. The software helps organizations eliminate inefficient manual processes by merging documents directly into business applications and workflows.
eCopy PaperWorks Plus enables office workers to create, view, edit and modify scanned document images, PDFs and faxes. The software is directly integrated with content management, workflow and collaboration systems to expedite the filing, retrieval, review, distribution, and sharing of PDF documents. It comes with direct integration to EMC Documentum Content Server, Interwoven WorkSite, and Open Text eDOCs DM applications so that users can store and manage PDF files with these repositories.
“Too often productivity is constrained by the variety of electronic document formats needed to accomplish the task-at-hand and the challenges of integrating scanned and e-fax document images into business workflows,” said Michael Orasin, research manager with IDC’s Document Solutions service. “The result is time and resources are wasted and document integrity is compromised by printing documents for either signatures or edits, and then rescanning to distribute them electronically.”
eCopy PaperWorks Plus provides a number of industry-leading features. With eCopy PaperWorks Plus users can:
Create, view, and edit text-based PDF files directly from the print menu of Microsoft Windows software applications.
Use optical character recognition to convert scanned images into editable text files, avoiding time spent having to re-type documents.
Combine scanned document images and e-faxes with e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing files, presentations and more into a single, easy-to-manage and -distribute PDF file.
Provide organizations with simplified application administration through Citrix and Windows Terminal Services so remote workers can easily access eCopy PaperWorks Plus from anywhere.
Add signatures without the need to print and rescan documents.
Edit scanned documents and e-fax images to avoid illegible, rescanned documents, and save time and the need to reprint documents.
Assign unique identifiers, such as Bates stamps, to PDF files to help organize, track and recall documents.
eCopy PaperWorks Plus addresses a challenge that many work processes face – distributing paper and electronic documents from disparate sources and systems. For example, an organization’s accounts payable department may need to combine an Excel formatted purchase order, a Word contract with paper invoices and packing slips to reconcile, route for approval and file away. Before eCopy PaperWorks Plus, tasks like these have required either juggling multiple software applications or learning how to use complex software designed for graphics professionals not for business professionals.
Pricing and Availability
eCopy PaperWorks Plus will start at under US$200 and will be available in the first calendar quarter of 2009.
