eCopy Connector Enables Automated Tracking and Cost Recovery for Scanning on Canon MEAP-enabled imageRUNNERs
Software Integrates eCopy ShareScan OP with Document Accounting Systems from
Control Systems Copitrak, Equitrac Corporation, Billback Systems, and nQueue
Nashua, N.H., December 20, 2004 -- eCopy, an innovative provider of document distribution and integration solutions, today announced the immediate availability of integration software that enables cost management and recovery systems to automatically track scans on Canon’s MEAP-enabled imageRUNNERs. Cost management and recovery system providers, including Control Systems Copitrak, Equitrac Corporation, Billback Systems, and nQueue, are using the eCopy Connector for Cost Recovery to provide automated solutions for managing, reporting, and recovering costs associated with scanning documents.
For the first time, organizations using Canon’s MEAP (Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform) imageRUNNER digital copiers can use automated document accounting systems to monitor and allocate scanning costs, allowing users to maximize office equipment efficiency, recover costs, reduce waste, and build the bottom line. For example, a law firm can easily capture the costs associated with scanning for clients and make cost recovery a routine part of its daily document workflows.
“There’s no question that, for law firms and other professional services providers, scanning is becoming the method of choice for distributing paper documents,” said Graham Allen, president of Control Systems Copitrak. “In addition, a growing number of firms are taking advantage of the efficiencies created by scanning documents directly to enterprise content management systems. As scanning grows in importance, the eCopy Connector for Cost Recovery provides us with the capability to automatically track and monitor this activity.”
Previously, the eCopy Connector for Cost Recovery has been available for tracking scanning costs using eCopy ShareScan on non-MEAP Canon imageRUNNERs. To date, it has been eCopy’s best selling connector. Now this same capability is available on MEAP-enabled imageRUNNERs, Canon’s next-generation multifunction (MFP) imaging systems.
eCopy ShareScan OP, announced in March 2004, was the first commercial software application available for Canon’s MEAP. The application software runs directly on Canon’s MEAP-enabled imageRUNNERs and does not require an external touch panel and PC. The software transforms an imageRUNNER into an information hub by integrating hardcopy documents directly into the workflow of critical business processes, such as reporting, administration, document management, financials, human resources, and customer management.
“eCopy enjoys broad acceptance among the leading law firms in the world,” said Chris Wyszkowski, vice president of Technical Marketing at Equitrac Corporation. “eCopy software is known for ease-of-use and robust integration with leading enterprise content management systems such as Interwoven, Hummingbird, Documentum, and Open Text. The integration between our Equitrac Professional family and eCopy results in a comprehensive offering for tracking all scanning activity as part of a complete and automatic cost recovery system.”
Using eCopy software on scanners or Canon imageRUNNERs, organizations can provide open access to scanning that connects to enterprise applications, such as document management, e-mail, and fax, for low-cost, easy, instantaneous distribution and management of digital copies of paper documents. To monitor and allocate scanning costs, users need only enter valid tracking data into the eCopy Connector for Cost Recovery before scanning. The real-time tracking data is automatically provided to the automated document tracking system, which can produce activity reports by scanning type (e.g., e-mail, fax, document management system) with the corresponding costs assigned.
