Nuance Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search Apps Now Available in Russia
Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search Continue European Expansion, Making it Faster and Easier for Russians to Speak Text For Emails, Text Messages, Web Content and More
Burlington, Mass. – September 1, 2011 – Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) today announced that its Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search apps for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad have made their debut in Russia, supporting the Russian language. Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search have experienced rapid adoption and expansion across Europe this last year, with global downloads in the tens of millions as they empower people to quickly and easily speak text for SMS messages, emails, social media updates, mobile Web searches and more.

Fueled by popular demand, Russia is the 21st country where Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search have been made available by Nuance in the last year, with both apps available in 18 languages across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. And because the Apps feature multilingual capabilities, people all over the world can easily switch between supported languages as they become available.

Dragon Dictation is iOS-4 compatible and features a pop-up toolbar with app icons for easy access to email, SMS, Facebook or Twitter status bars, or the clipboard. Dragon Dictation also includes a convenient Auto Save function that retains dictated text when the user is interrupted by an incoming phone call.

Dragon Search for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, also now available on the App Store, allows users to simply speak any search query to quickly and easily find information and answers on the mobile Web. Dragon Search is the only app to feature Nuance’s unique and innovative Dragon Search Carousel, which delivers faster, smarter search results within seconds across multiple channels all at once. In fact, Dragon Search has been customized for Russian users to include results from Yandex, a popular local Russian search engine, along with Google orYahoo!, iTunes, Wikipedia and YouTube.

“Nuance’s mobile voice capabilities have long been experienced by Russian consumers via in-car and navigation systems, so we’re very excited that they can now experience the power of Dragon from anywhere on their iOS device,” said Michael Thompson, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile. “21 countries and 18 languages – many of which have launched in just the last year – is an incredible milestone for the Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search apps. And, we’ll continue to roll them out to other regions through the end of the year and into 2012.”

Both Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search are available for free from the Russian Apple App Store.

Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search support U.S, UK and Australian English, German, European and Canadian French, Italian, Americas and European Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Taiwan Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish and Russian.
