Press release from the issuing company
One of the leading Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolor enthusiasts is diversifying into digital printing with a Ricoh Pro C901 Graphic Arts Edition supplied by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). To maximize efficiency with the combination of litho and digital press technology Doveton Press will also become an early adopter of the Prinect Business Manager MIS systems that will be launched at drupa 2012, which will take place from May 3 to 16 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Topping off its investment is a new buckle Stahlfolder TH 66 and the Compucut pre-loading software from Polar.
High flexibility with the Ricoh press: economical for fast turnaround, short-run jobs with the option of personalized printing
Mark Savage, director of Doveton Press, says: "The Anicolor presses continue to impress us. They are ideal for top quality, fast turnround work from about 150 sheets upwards. My brother and fellow director Gavin took a thorough look at the digital printing options. The very high cost systems offered us nothing we couldn't already do on the Anicolor but we saw a real opportunity to mop up the shortest runs with the Ricoh Pro C901. It offers top quality, and we trust Heidelberg as a supplier. So that, too, helped us make our decision. The press arrives next month and will allow us to offer an additional service. We are not relinquishing either of our two Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolor presses."
Efficient production with the new Prinect Business Manager
The Prinect Business Manager has been developed following Heidelberg's acquisition of Belgian software development business CERM. Heidelberg's vision is that by integrating all Prinect modules from a single database, users will be able to seamlessly integrate business, administration and production workflows. Doveton appreciates the neat efficiency that this will bring and the fact it will bridge both litho and digital work paths.
Stahlfolder TH 66: Reduction of outwork and enhancement of turnround times and quality control
To complement its beefed up pressroom, Doveton Press is also enhancing the efficiency of its guillotines with the addition of Compucut. This will enable it to preload jobs and to eliminate bottlenecks by simply using existing equipment to maximum efficiency with least downtime. The Stahlfolder TH 66 is a straight sway for a wider and more automated model, meaning it can reduce the level of outwork and enhance turnround times and quality control.
"We've had a very good start to the year, we've been very busy," says Mark Savage. "The two Anicolors have been churning out work. We believe they will continue to do so but we also see great opportunities opening up for the very short run and personalisation markets. Like all quality response printers to compete profitably means maximising efficiency and with this comprehensive investment we are doing just that."
Established in 1969 and based in Bedminster, Bristol, Doveton Press is manufacturer of a wide range of products. The two Anicolor presses are used for the production of small stationery print runs to larger print runs of brochures, reports, folders and other bespoke work. The digital printing on the Ricoh Pro C901 Graphic Arts Edition is economical for fast turnaround, short-run jobs with the option of personalized printing.
Over 40 years of print experience has earned an enviable reputation for high quality, excellent prices and service.
Ecologically aware: Paper and ink recycling as well as heat recirculation
Doveton Press was one of the first companies to experiment with and use environmentally friendly and post consumer waste paper and have built up considerable experience in their use. All their waste paper is collected and recycled, with any redundant stock sent free to the 'Scrap Store' to be used in schools etc. The company recycles all old inks and ink tins, and only uses vegetable based inks. In November 2008 Doveton Press Ltd became successful in gaining membership of a certified FSC group chain of custody scheme as well as PEFC group chain of custody scheme.
Since energy and labour are their second largest cost, Doveton Press continually updates equipment to be as energy efficient as possible, recirculating the heat from the printing presses to warm the factory.
