Thought I would post this for those of us that are using DocuSign. I was not aware there was a way to save documents as a draft. This is great to have the documents completed and saved for the client before you arrive for a meeting. If all goes well all you need to do is access and send
es, DocuSign allows you to save documents without signing them, typically for scenarios where you need to prepare or store documents before sending them out for signatures. Here’s how you can save unsigned documents in DocuSign:
1. Use the Draft Feature:
When preparing an envelope in DocuSign:
- Upload the document you want to save.
- Add recipients and placeholders for signature fields if needed.
- Instead of sending it, click Save and Close. This action saves the envelope as a Draft. You can access it later from the Manage tab under the Drafts folder.
2. Download the Document:
If you’ve uploaded a document but don’t want to use DocuSign for immediate signature:
- After uploading the document, click the Actions menu.
- Select Download to save the document locally for future use.
3. Save in DocuSign Templates:
For frequently used documents:
- Create a template from the document by going to the Templates section.
- Upload the document, configure it as needed, and save it as a template. You can reuse this document anytime.
4. Save as a Read-Only Document:
If you want to store a document without adding signatures or other changes:
- Upload the document to DocuSign.
- Skip the recipient and field steps, and save it in your Documents folder within DocuSign for storage.
Benefits of Saving Documents in DocuSign:
- Organization: Keep documents categorized for easy retrieval.
- Collaboration: Share drafts with colleagues for review before sending.
- Preparation: Ensure everything is set up before initiating the signing process.
