PALO ALTO, Calif. —March 20, 2006—Xerox Corp. has unveiled DocuShare CPX and DocuShare 5.0, two enterprise content management software products built on a single technology platform. Businesses can use one or both applications for such content and document management needs as financial record-keeping or disclosure-related government regulations.

Targeted at large enterprises and public sector organizations, DocuShare CPX permits content sharing, collaboration, and critical work process automation. In addition, CPX supports Web conferencing and such social computing features as blogs and wikis that can be managed and stored as legally binding records for auditing.

In addition to the core capabilities of DocuShare 5.0, CPX features four software components:

Content-centric collaboration: Blogs and wikis within CPX can be managed so approvals, permissions, and auditing are consistent with corporate content management policies. Web conferencing is also possible via partnership with WebEx Communications.
Content process automation: Managers can configure rules and set actions to be performed on new or existing content.
Content assimilation and reuse: Xerox developed the Knowledge Network to allow XML-based content within documents to be repurposed. Workers can organize and manage semi-structured data, such as business forms or templates, by leveraging existing user interfaces in such commonly used applications as Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
Advanced content and records management: Department of Defense-certified records management capabilities are included with DocuShare CPX, enabling workers to classify and declare documents as records to comply with such regulatory standards as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA.
To help small and midsized businesses up to the global enterprise, DocuShare 5.0 includes enhancements intended to minimize the need for IT support, the company said, including automatic deployment of the software across an organization's network. DocuShare 5.0 can be used as a standalone application for managing day-to-day business content or through new search capabilities where workers can access data through multiple connected DocuShare and CPX servers.

DocuShare software is Web-based, works across multiple operating systems, and can integrate with enterprise infrastructure databases from Oracle, IBM and Microsoft. It also works with Internet Explorer, Netscape, Safari, Opera and Mozilla Firefox Web browsers.

Entry-level U.S. list price for a complete DocuShare 5.0 system with 20 seats starts at $4,500, and a 100-seat system of DocuShare CPX starts at $45,000. Existing DocuShare customers with a Gold support agreement can upgrade to DocuShare 5.0 at no charge or to DocuShare CPX at significant discounts.
