Document Routing Platform Supports Distributed Workgroups

SALEM , N.H.--Jan. 30, 2006--Omtool Ltd. has introduced the latest version of its flagship product, AccuRoute. Version 2.1 captures, processes and distributes documents—either paper or electronic. The platform enables business users to administer documents from either their desktop or multifunction device (MFD) panel while seamlessly integrating with their business workflow, according to a company announcement.

“The enhanced capabilities advance our mutual commitment to provide office customers with document routing technologies that simplify everyday business processes,” said Rob Stewart, Xerox office group vice president for worldwide marketing. Xerox Corp. “By combining Xerox WorkCentre Pro advanced multifunction systems with Omtool AccuRoute, we're working to provide enterprise-class document handling solutions.”

Omtool said in a statement that document routing solutions must take into account how documents are captured, processed and distributed. The AccuRoute platform supports major MFDs that scan or capture documents and send or transfer them onto a network, including devices from Xerox, HP, Lexmark, and Ricoh, among others.

AccuRoute 2.1 features include the following:

Walk-up access to AccuRoute at devices that are Java-enabled.
Billing process optimization by integrating with cost recovery systems from such companies as Billback and Control Systems. The integration of AccuRoute, the billing systems and the MFDs allows users to enter distribution directions ("embedded directives") and billing codes from the same interface.
Improved document compression capability for enhanced processing and distribution, based on Adobe compression algorithms.
Simultaneously distribution of documents to multiple systems or recipients in multiple formats.
