Datapipe, a global provider of managed services and infrastructure for outsourced IT and cloud computing, today announced the appointment of Craig Sowell as senior vice president of global marketing. Sowell joins Datapipe’s executive team to support the rapid growth Datapipe is seeing within the cloud market. As enterprises continue to adopt the cloud, the need for effective migration, deployment and operations management is crucial. Sowell will be responsible for maintaining Datapipe’s strong voice in the market and ensuring that Datapipe’s brand is top of mind with both current and potential customers as they look to evolve their cloud strategies.

A 15-year veteran of the industry, Sowell will spearhead global marketing initiatives relating to Datapipe’s products and service offerings within public, private and hybrid cloud environments. Through innovative and modern campaigns, the marketing team will remain dedicated to promoting the company’s unique expertise in both cloud and managed IT service offerings, including Datapipe’s Managed Cloud for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its own Stratosphere® private cloud solution. Building on existing relationships with customers and partners, Sowell will be instrumental in enhancing overall brand awareness as the industry evolves.

“Datapipe is a company that understands enterprise demands and works to help companies effectively deploy and manage cloud environments,” said Sowell. “For Datapipe to continue to take advantage of the exponential growth in cloud adoption it will be crucial to build upon three key marketing elements—reach, relationship and depth—especially as new markets and opportunities emerge.”

Prior to joining Datapipe, Sowell led cloud marketing and brand management at IBM. There he managed successful marketing programs for the channel and CIOs, as well as the design and integration of the company’s cloud offering. This in-depth involvement provided unique insight into the overall concept and implementation of large-scale marketing programs, from early design to route-to-market. Sowell’s past experiences have provided a rich understanding of technology services that looks to complement Datapipe’s emphasis on building lasting relationships with partners and customers.

“Craig joins Datapipe at a time when the cloud market and hybrid cloud deployments are gaining significant momentum. Enterprises are looking for experts, not just in terms of facility management, but in complete IT solution management, which is where Datapipe excels,” said Robb Allen, CEO of Datapipe. “As an industry veteran, Craig brings a wealth of understanding and insight that will help Datapipe evolve with the market. We are excited to have Craig’s expertise to help lead the way and look forward to enhancing our global marketing initiatives under his leadership.”
