KYOTO, Japan
Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd.(TOKYO:7735)(hereafter "Screen"), in conjunction with UK-based group company Inca Digital Printers Ltd.(hereafter "Inca"), has developed the Truepress Jet W3200UV wide-format UV inkjet printing system; a development made possible by drawing on the core technologies refined by both Inca and Screen over many years for their products. The system will be available from October 2013 and its launch is expected to accelerate Screen's business expansion in the worldwide market, focusing on the active demand that is currently seen in the sign and display market.
In recent years, with the continuing diversification of consumer preferences, marketing life cycles have become extremely short, increasing the frequency with which product advertising is refreshed. As a result, the sign and display industry has experienced a growing demand for in-store printed advertising, including POP units and window displays, along with the more conventional outdoor signboards. Both types of advertising stimulate consumer interest, allowing local promotions and focused marketing. Furthermore, attention has continued to shift to UV-cured inkjet printing systems, with their ability to print directly onto various types of media. These systems do not require any drying time and compared to aqueous- and solvent-based inkjet printing systems, offer considerably shorter overall production times. It is predicted that the sign and display market will continue to expand, growing by an annual average of around three percent* in the period from 2011 to 2017.
Based on these industry trends, Screen has collaborated with its group company Inca to develop the new Truepress Jet W3200UV wide-format UV inkjet printing system. Inca is one of the top brands for wide-format UV inkjet systems predominantly in the European and North American sign and display industries. This system has been made possible by drawing on the core technologies refined by both Inca and Screen over many years for their products. Equipping the Truepress Jet W3200UV with a newly developed print carriage has allowed it to achieve a printing speed of 84 square meters (904 square feet) per hour, the best in its class. It is also able to deliver smooth, high-definition printing for various media thanks to the availability of light cyan, light magenta, and white inks as options, along with the four standard CMYK** colors. In addition, the adoption of Screen's original Truepress inks, with their excellent resistance to the bending and cutting of media, has made this system capable of handling a wide range of work.
