Cybersecurity firm infiltrated by hacker
KnowBe4 Cybersecurity, headquartered in Clearwater, Florida, admitted that it was duped into hiring a fake IT worker, who was actually a hacker from North Korea
- The spy used a stolen US-based IT worker’s identity to apply for and accept a job for internal IT AI team as a remote worker
- The company’s internal systems detected suspicious activities taking place, including attempt to download malware into company network
- The employee was terminated, and the FBI was notified, who believe the person was part of a scheme to steal information and sell to Chinese government to fund illegal North Korean operations
