I have a customer looking into recapturing some of their copying and printing costs. I have looked into Technesis and Equitrac. I am looking for opinions on those and if there are other options.

Old Post, but I'll give my 50cents anyway. Can only really talk about equitrac and it is a really good product. You can only really get the best out of it if it is all setup and configured correctly. But if it is, yor employees can't really make a move without the system knowing about it.
Equitrac is good, I have a customer using a few of them with a DSc338.
Recently had to find something for a 445 and I think the built in codes (500) will do the trick, printing, faxing and copying. The reports are not automatic but will count per user code and color vs black/white.
Also good is PrintAudit @ $75./seat.
I considered Printer Cost and Security Manager from Ricoh and while there are plenty of links for new Zealand and europe, there isnt much in usa. Ricoh has one page on it and all the links are dead. I talked to a Gestetner rep and he said "call equitrac"

I've used Equitrac and Technesis. Equitrac is certainly a more robust product. If your customer can afford it, I'd go with that.
Technesis isn't bad, but it is more of a "budget" solution. In the end it will do most everything Equitrac will do, but you may have to jump through some hoops.
