Copy Doc, a 19-year Frederick business, moved recently to larger quarters.
"We moved to better accommodate our customers and to expand our services," said Deborah Lynch, who owns the company with her business partner, Michael Moran.
Copy Doc's move only two doors away from its previous location almost doubles the space the company has and will allow the business to carry other lines of office equipment like commercial folders and shredders.
Like many other companies, the copy machine industry has experienced considerable loss of business since the recession, Lynch said.
"Office equipment dealers are having to reinvent themselves to stay in business, including offering more diverse equipment and from multiple vendors," Lynch said.
People are keeping office equipment longer and companies are determining where to make cuts, Lynch said.
"We weren't immune from the recession," Lynch said.
The company sells, leases and rents digital copiers, color laser copiers and printers, digital multifunction systems, laser fax machines, commercial scanners and wide format printers.
In 2009, Copy Doc received the top award from Canon and was named a premier service center for Canon home office products.
"This is an honor we competed for against 326 other service centers across the United States," Lynch said.
The company has survived because of its stellar customer service, Moran said.
"We are big on service. Service comes before even the bottom line. Top-notch service is important to us because we know everybody in town," Lynch said.
The company hopes to evolve into a one-stop shop for office needs, Moran said.
