San Rafael firefighters quickly extinguished an electrical fire that started in a copy machine in a downtown office Monday morning, Fire Chief Christopher Gray said.
The fire was reported at 9:43 a.m. at 1408 Fourth St., and firefighters arrived in two minutes, Gray said. Fourth Street was shut down between D and E streets while crews battled the small blaze, but the street was quickly opened up again, a police dispatcher said.
The blaze, which burned in unit No. 23 in the three-story building, caused mostly smoke and heat damage, and firefighters prevented the flames from penetrating the wall behind the large copy machine, Gray said.
No injuries were reported, he said.
