I am seriously looking into Ricoh's CompTIA CDIA certification class and was wondering if any of you have done this and what your thoughts are on it. Is it worth the money? and Do you believe it will help strengthin your abilities as a sales rep? Or if you have taken it elsewhere what are your thoughts.

I cannot attest to Ricoh University's training but I am through 90% of CompTia's self-paced CD Training ($649).

I believe it's value depends on whether you and your company intend to get intimately involved in selling at least mid-level Electronic Document Management Systems. If your company isn't there or anxious to get there, then there isn't much benefit in the training. All you would be able to do is tell your customers what they needed to do but you wouldn't be able tio take them there and I just see that as a frustration for both you and them.

We are just going through the training as a group in our office from 7:30 to 8:30 every morning. We'll be done in less than three weeks and we all get trained for just the one $649 fee that way also.

Feel free to email me at jim@cbs-digital.com if you want to discuss it further.
Thanks Jim, I like the idea of doing this as a team and doing it for such an inexpensive way. We have been pushing Document Management solutions pretty hard since the later part of last year and in my opinion this is were the future and money lie. Would you recommend the self-paced CD?
I know that the trend in our business that Document Management opens the door and the equipment is most often a part of the swolution but bring higher margins of profit. That being said I can say from experience the getting certified is more than helpful. I am CDIA+ certified and I can positivily say it is worth it. I did the cd based training along with a work book that I got from a web site, but another person in our company got certified by going to the Ricoh sponsered boot camp. Go for it and good luck.
