Has anyone come up against the Xerox M24. This machine is 3 years old and Xerox is still selling it as new. I was in with a 3224C and had the deal until the customer decides to call Xerox and cancel his contract on a color Techtronics printer and Xerox starts to pick his brain and introduces him to the M24. Even though the customer gave me a verbal on the 3224C, after shopping Canon and Toshiba, the cost of the M24 was much lower than all of us and I was in with a very low price. I was being up front with the customer stating that the volume that the 3224C can handle is up to 5,000 copies per month with a 30% ratio for color out of that 5,000. The customer wanted to see the volume rating in writing from a spec sheet, that was a first. Xerox tells him that the M24 can handle up to 10,000 per month color or black and white. This volume difference leads the customer to believe that the Xerox is a more durable machine. I tried to find as much as I could on the M24 to sell against it but it seems to have a good rating and the volumes are listed at 10,000 per month. The only negative thing about the M24 is that the cost per copy for color is 10.9 cents and the cost for black and white is 1.69 cents. The customer is only doing 1,500 color per month but because the company is growing he feels that the volume could double. The customer is paying cash for the machine but I have to give him a better reason not to go with Xerox than it being 3 years old. Also, one more thing, Xerox sells against us by saying that the M24 is a 4 drum system which is more reliable than a 1 drum system. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
