What is the largest size paper you can run?

All of the ComColor models will accommodate a paper size up to 13 3/8” x 21 5/8”. The size of the printed image, however, will vary by model. The 9050 offers a maximum image area of 12 3/8” x 21 9/16”, the 7050 offers a maximum image area of 12 3/8” x 21 9/16”, the 7010 offers a maximum image area of 12 3/8” x 21 7/16”, the 3050 and 3010 offer a maximum image area of 8 ¼” x 21 7/16”.

Why are the maximum paper size and the maximum image area different?

This allows customers to run images on larger format papers, and trim to a full bleed to the desired output size. Additionally, the printer requires a small margin of whitespace around the edge of the sheet.

Will this product handle variable data?

Yes, the ComColor series can handle basic data streams in the form of mail merges in MS Word right through the GDI controller. The ComColor series comes with an optional Adobe PostScriptTM controller to handle graphic-intensive and VDP applications. The file formats that ComColor will accept are PostScript, PCL1, PPML2, and PDF. Other data streams will need to be converted.

Does your printer slow down when running color?

No! The ComColor printers will run at rated speed regardless of if they are printing color or pure black and white. The variables that affect printing speed on the ComColor printers are paper length, and quality setting selected (maximum speed is based off of 8.5” x 11” fed with the 11” lead edge (aka landscape) at plain paper type 300 dpi).

What is the maximum paper weight I can run in the ComColor printer?

The maximum weight without adding any accessories is 110 lb index stock. The ComColor printer will accommodate paper weights up to 210 lb index stock, by will require optional accessories for paper feeding and receiving. Maximum paper sizes will also apply.
What paper stocks can I run in the ComColor printer?

The ComColor printer can handle a wide range of paper types with a few requirements. The ComColor’s ink dries through absorption, so the media must be porous enough to absorb the ink. Therefore, you cannot run glossy stocks, synthetic stocks, or papers with any kind of slick coating. Will the ComColor auto duplex?

Yes! All ComColor models come with duplexing as a standard feature. The ComColor’s duplexing system is unique in that it interleaves the prints on the fly, as opposed to sending them to a duplex tray, thus improving reliability. Also, the ComColor printer duplexes at the same rate as simplex. So, for example, the 9050 will print simplex sheets at 150 pages (150 images, 1 image per sheet) per minute. It duplexes at 75 sheets (150 images, 2 images per sheet) per minute.

Will the ComColor feed envelopes?

Yes! The ComColor printer can run envelopes from 4” x 6” to 10” x 13”. Average print speed for envelopes is 85 #10 envelopes per minute.
