MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2014--
Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today added a new office document scanner to its imageFORMULA lineup: the DR-C225 Office Document Scanner. With an innovative, upright design and the ability to scan a wide variety of document types, the DR-C225 scanner is ideal for individuals who work in small corporate workgroups or small office environments. This device was designed with an assortment of features ideal for legal, financial, healthcare, real estate and insurance environments to help maximize image quality, producing accurate and detailed scanned images while requiring very little desk space.
The DR-C225 scanner packs an impressive array of features into a compact device designed to produce high-quality scanned images while helping to minimize the preparation time required of the user. The DR-C225 scanner includes settings that help enhance image quality by improving character legibility, straightening images and removing shadows, necessary for important documents such as legal and financial. Often used in the real estate and insurance sectors, an Auto Resolution setting enables the scanning of both documents and photographs in one batch by automatically adjusting the output resolution, while Auto Color Detection identifies color documents without requiring additional actions by the user.
Overall, when combined with its bundled software, or with third-party software, the DR-C225 scanner allows users to convert documents into editable electronic files; scan business cards and organize contacts; archive, retrieve, and share files; and create PDF files.
Intuitive, Easy User Experience
In addition to conserving office desk space, the upright design of the DR-C225 scanner eliminates the need to rotate or flip documents. This device can help save employees valuable time by scanning both sides of a page at the same time with intuitive front-side forward, top-up item feeding. Full Auto Mode, which can be activated with a single click, automatically adjusts multiple settings to deliver an optimal scanned image.
Simplifying the process even further is the inclusion of Canon CaptureOnTouch software, allowing users to pre-configure routine jobs for one-touch scanning. This software can also route scanned images directly to Microsoft SharePoint, Evernote, Dropbox and other cloud applications(1) . In addition, the DR-C225 scanner is bundled with Windows(R) and Mac(R) drivers for easy integration with third-party scanning software.
Flexibility of Document Types and Sizes
The DR-C225 scanner scans up to 25 pages-per-minute (PPM)(2) and can handle a broad range of media, from thick documents to plastic or embossed cards. As with other imageFORMULA devices, the DR-C225 scanner also provides customers with the flexibility to scan long documents up to 118" in length, useful in healthcare and other areas, or oversized documents up to 11" by 17".
Compliance with "Green" Guidelines
As with other Canon products, the DR-C225 scanner was developed with the environment in mind and meets ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency. It also complies with the ErP Lot 6 directive for energy consumption, and with the EU RoHS and WEEE directives for the reduction of hazardous substances and waste products. Not only can users potentially reap the financial benefits of using a device that conserves energy, they can also be confident that they are reducing their environmental footprint and exposure to harmful chemicals.
Pricing and Availability
The imageFORMULA DR-C225 Office Document Scanner is available now for a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $449(3) .
