Canon U.S.A. said Tuesday it launched Canon Information and Imaging Solutions Inc., a new wholly owned subsidiary company, to expand its overall solutions business.
The new company's solutions will primarily be software, middleware and services, with a focus on expanding Canon's sales of office solutions, according to the company.
The subsidiary will initially focus on products in business process optimization, security services and imaging and records management services. It will also offer products in the areas of enterprise resource planning and Canon's cloud computing technologies.
Joe Adachi, Canon's president and CEO, will serve as the subsidiary's chairman. Seymour Liebman, Canon's executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel will be the company's president. Additional staff will come from Canon's professional services organization.
"Canon is pleased to launch Canon Information and Imaging Solutions, which is ideally positioned to capitalize on the expanding solutions marketplace for a broad variety of Canon's advanced imaging technologies," Adachi said in a statement. "This new company will have a singular focus on the solutions and service business and create a strong foundation for developing new business segments."
In the future, it plans to pursue expansion opportunities in markets such as IT services, as well as build partnerships with third-party technology providers and system integrators.
Canon Information and Imaging Solutions will use its parent company's current distribution channels.
The Lake Success, N.Y.-headquartered Canon predicts the subsidiary will exceed $500 million in sales by 2014.
