WASHINGTON, Mar 23, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Canon U.S.A., Inc., an award-winning provider of advanced image capture solutions, will showcase the benefits of its broad array of imageFORMULA digital document scanners at this year's Federal Office Systems Expo (FOSE), beginning today at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Canon's exhibit will be located in Booth #2701.

"Canon is committed to providing a comprehensive range of document scanning solutions to support the diverse needs of federal, state and local governments," said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "With government and municipalities seeing greater efficiency across service areas, our imageFORMULA document scanners deliver many benefits for these entities, including increased security, easier document storage, improved compliance, and reduced paperwork."

Canon will display its award-winning imageFORMULA devices during this year's show, including:

-- imageFORMULA P-150 "Scan-tini" Personal Document Scanner: The Canon P-150's compact size and ease-of-use use liberates document capture by taking it beyond the walls of the office to the convenience of any user location. Measuring only 11 inches long, 3.7 inches wide and 1.6 inches high and weighing just over two pounds, the Canon P-150 redefines the minimum dimensions of a document scanner with automatic document feeder. The Canon P-150 can scan at up to 15 pages-per-minute (ppm) and 30 images-per-minuteI (ipm), yet still fits easily into a briefcase. For quick use and minimal setup, the P-150 can use electrical power via a single USB cable connected to a PC, and when first connected will immediately launch Canon CaptureOnTouch Lite. This "Plug-and-Scan" capability lets users instantaneously start scanning without installing drivers or imaging applications, decreasing the time needed to initiate a scan and simplifying the scanning process.

-- imageFORMULA DR-X10C Production Scanner: Fast, durable and reliable, the DR-X10C is perfect for document archiving, records management, and other centralized or consolidated scanning applications. It provides high-speed color scanning up to 128 ppm / 256 ipmII, and boasts a resolution of up to 600 dpi. The DR-X10C also features Canon's Three-Step Dust Prevention system-which helps remove and protect the scanning sensors from paper dust. It also captures a wide variety of documents, with a maximum document size of 22x34-inches.

-- imageFORMULA DR-9050C Production Scanner: A high-volume, high image-quality document management solution, the DR-9050C can scan at speeds up to 112 ppm/225ipmII in color, grayscale and black and white. The DR-9050C captures images and text with clarity using three-line Contact Image Sensors at up to 600 dots-per-inch optical resolution, and incorporates a dust-free shading mechanism for exceptional image quality. Developed with Canon's unique feeding mechanism, the DR-9050C utilizes Ultrasonic Double Feed Detection, Rapid Recovery and Staple Detection to ensure reliable document scanning.

-- imageFORMULA DR-6010C Departmental Scanner: Compactly designed and reliable, the DR-6010C provides high-speed document scanning in both centralized and decentralized scanning applications. It provides fast color scanning up to 60 ppm / 120III ipm. It also features Advanced Text Enhancement technology that allows the device to capture text from scanned documents by removing patterned backgrounds and by enhancing light-colored texts. Shown in conjunction with the DR-6010C is a sneak preview of an optional flatbed scanner unit. The optional Flatbed 101, when attached to an imageFORMULA scanner product, will accept thin or fragile documents, books or bound documents, and exceptionally thick documents. It is intended that the optional Flatbed 101 will work with all imageFORMULA Workgroup and Departmental scanners. The optional Flatbed 101 is expected to launch later this year.

-- imageFORMULA DR-3010C Workgroup Scanner: The DR-3010C is Canon's fastest and most reliable workgroup scanner. It is perfect for either mission-specific or casual use, in a wide variety of workflows. The DR-3010C offers scanning speeds of up to 30ppm and 60ipmIII and comes bundled with a suite of innovative software packages including Canon CapturePerfect 3.0, Adobe Acrobat Standard, Kofax VRS, ScanSoft PaperPort SE, OmniPage SE and Presto! BizCard.

-- imageFORMULA ScanFront 220P Network Scanner: The ScanFront 220P offers an easy-to-use, stand-alone and secure solution for moving capture of hard-copy documents closer to the point of origin within the business process. It is ideal for decentralized or distributed scanning applications and for easily sharing documents via a network. The ScanFront 220P features an 8.4-inch color touch panel that allows for easy navigation as well as a preview of scanned images. It can scan letter-sized documents at up to 25ppm, and captures color, grayscale and black and white images in various file formats including high compression and searchable PDF, TIFF and JPEG.

Helping to expand the versatility and compatibility of its image capture devices, Canon will have two software solution vendors, Drivve and I.R.I.S. Professional Solutions, on display in its booth. Drivve will show its Drivve | Image scanning software, running in conjunction with a Canon ScanFront 220P Network Scanner. I.R.I.S. will demonstrate its IRISPowerscan production scanning and OCR solution, running with a Canon DR-X10C Production Scanner.
