Lake Success, N.Y., April 1, 2008 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in document imaging and office solutions, today introduced two new desktop laser beam printers (LBP) under the imageRUNNER brand name – the Color imageRUNNER LBP5975 and LBP5970. With the introduction of these models, Canon offers a completely comprehensive array of corporate workflow offerings – from desktop to production.
Far beyond the capabilities of other basic laser beam printers, the Color imageRUNNER LBP5975 and LBP5970 printers are powered by the same high-performance system architecture developed for Canon’s Color imageRUNNER line -- delivering extraordinary productivity, robust functionality and enhanced processing capacity. The new models provide fast first-printout times and high-quality letter-sized output speeds of up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) in color and 31ppm in black-and-white, as well as 1200 X 1200 dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution. These models also produce remarkable color and monochrome documents up to ledger-sized output, while maintaining a compact size and reducing energy consumption.
“Many of our customers were using older desktop laser beam printers and needed a cost-effective solution to produce general business documents quickly and reliably without the need to sacrifice speed or other necessary capabilities,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Systems Division, Canon U.S.A. “Leveraging Canon’s already successful imageRUNNER line, we designed the Color imageRUNNER LBP5975 and LBP5970 models to be a single-function, scalable solution that would fit the needs of every corporate environment and budget.”
For customers with limited space, yet requiring basic finishing capabilities, the Color imageRUNNER LBP5975 model comes standard with a compact internal finisher that offers the ability to corner-staple up to 15 staples of paper per set for letter-, executive- and ledger-sized paper.
Using Canon’s patented Color RAPID Fusing System and revolutionary short vertical path paper, each model is ENERGY STAR® qualified and includes standard network printing and duplex color output as well as Adobe® PostScript® 3™ emulation. In addition, the Color imageRUNNER LBP5975/5970 models can leverage Canon’s new Wireless LAN Kit option – the latest in wireless technology – to connect to a Local Area Network. The new models also support the IPv6 protocol, which helps provide a more secure network infrastructure, improved traffic routing, easier management and mobility for administrators, and better application support.
The Canon Color imageRUNNER LBP5975 and LBP5970 are immediately available through Canon authorized dealers and Canon Business Solutions at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $3,699 and $3,399, respectively.
