This system was shown at the AIIM/Print On Demand Show in NYC last week. I saw prints that we great, although I tend to believe most prints are great when there is nothing to compare them to. There was no banding of color, photos were ok and text was good. However, documents we saw were printed on high end stock. I would have liked to have seen what this system would do on regular bond. I asked and they claimed, they only had this type of stock for this system.

Canon USA rolled out at the AIIM conference Monday a new suite of office imaging hardware and software, including a new, network-capable printer targeted at small workgroups that use Windows- and other Microsoft-based applications.

The new color ImageRunner C3200 can also be configured with Canon's "Universal Send" function, which permits scanning of documents, their conversion from hard copy to digital file, and "pushing" of the document across a work group.

Canon unveiled the new product during a news conference during the annual imaging show, held this week at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York.

The Lake Success, N.Y.-based company set pricing for a base printer configuration at $10,230. A Canon printer kit was priced at $3,050, separately, and the Canon imagePASS-C1 imaging technology was priced separately at $4,950, the company said.

Dennis Amorosano, director and assistant general manager of Canon USA's Integrated Business Systems Division, said low pricing was not the primary focus of the new product rollout.

"It's not the most aggressive pricing in the market," Amorosano said. However, he added that Canon USA hoped the ImageRunner C3200 would help it "capture a larger percent" of the market for color application technology.
