THE ASAHI SHIMBUN

Canon Inc., Canon Marketing Japan Inc. and Oce N.V. announced Aug. 8 the launch in Japan of three new Oce VarioPrint-series monochrome production printing systems: the Oce VarioPrint 135, 120 and 110.

Jointly developed by Canon and Oce, the new production printer lineup supports a wide range of high-speed, high-volume monochrome printing for users in corporate and commercial production print markets such as those targeting corporate reprographic departments.

The printing systems combine newly developed Oce engine and paper feed modules with high-performance Canon scanners and finishers. Canon said the introduction of the three new production printers enhances its overall monochrome system lineup, better positioning the company to meet diverse market needs.

The printers will be available in Japan from October with prices beginning at 6 million yen ($77,000), excluding tax.

This is old news. There is nothing on the market that competes with this direct press or copypress technology. The engineering behind these is phenomenal. This is the ONLY product in the history of BLI to receive a perfect 5 star rating for image quality. These have been out in the US since March-April. They are selling like hotcakes with a guarantee on the VP110 of 10yrs or 100 million impressions up to VP135 10yrs or 1 billion impressions. I just installed one about a week ago and it has run 123,000 in 2 days with one misfeed. There is a very large school system in TX that is putting in 40 of these units as walk up devices.
