Named Scottish public sector supplier with Concept Group's support
Digital imaging company Canon UK has secured a position on the Procurement Scotland Framework, meaning that it is now a key approved supplier of products and services to the entire Scottish public sector. Although the products will be sold from Canon themselves, rather than resellers, the service and maintenance of the contracts will be carried out by local Canon dealer Concept Group, as Canon points out "they have the specialist local knowledge".
The Procurement Scotland framework was launched in June following a number of objectives laid down by the Scottish government to reform the way the Scottish public sector procures office equipment and services. The framework also guarantees a move towards a more efficient and greener Scotland's public sector organisations by using suppliers with a proven record of environmental credentials.
During the period of the framework, Canon will supply managed print services, managed print strategies and items such as photocopiers, printers and scanners to all public sector departments including local authorities, central government, health, higher education, fire and police. Canon will be supported by reseller Concept Group - what it calls its premier Scottish partner - to provide the necessary customer service and support to public sector customers.
Prices are agreed under the framework and the introduction of print fleet management will reduce overall spending on hardware so that the right mix of devices is deployed in each organisation. Canon says it will help customers reduce the burden of their printing needs on the environment through energy efficient technology; reduced levels of waste through Canon's recycling schemes for printers and toners; and managed user behaviour to lower printing volumes.
Director, corporate and international channel, Canon UK and Ireland, Matthew Norton said: "At a time when economic prosperity in Scotland needs to be taken hand-in-hand with cost savings, the environment and efficiency, it is vital that procured solutions offer the best value and quality to its customers, whilst helping the Scottish Government reduce the public sector's local and global environmental impact.
"Canon has a proven track record in providing cost savings and environmental benefits through managed print services and innovative print management solutions, both in the public and private sector in Scotland and the rest of the UK," continued Norton. "It is this experience which has been crucial in Canon being awarded as an approved Procurement Scotland supplier."
Colin Paterson, chairman, Concept Group said: "As a Scottish company ourselves, we are able to provide the necessary local support and service to public sector organisations throughout Scotland, including the Highlands and the Islands. Working with Canon under the new framework will bring additional prosperity to the local area, whilst increasing employment opportunities within Concept Group and opening up the opportunity for us to tender for more Scottish public sector contracts in the future."
