Canon Lay-offs and furloughs today | Print4Pay Hotel

I guess the day is not over until it's over. Tonight I received text from a good industry friend of mine with some rather bad news. Seems two calls went out to two groups of employees from Canon. Those that were on one call were laid-off with no future employment, those on the other call were furloughed and hopefully will be getting their jobs back at some point in time. My source could not tell me how many were affected but stated "a large group of employees, each call was no longer than 15 seconds and some of these folks had 25 years or more of service".

Just curious that there's been no replies on this thread yet. Do we have an P4P members from Canon dealers that know more? How about any reps from Canon that are members. Is there anything else to this?

I have heard nothing of the layoffs or anything else after that.....

As a Canon employee, I was asked to take a week of vacation between now and the next 3 weeks. The only layoffs that I have heard of were, that any probationary employee was laid off or furloughed until offices start opening up again. I am from the sales side so I don't have any information on the service side of the company.

Some of the same is happening with Ricoh. Thnax for the reply. Hoping we can hear more others

Ricoh did their annual April culling, and then instituted furloughs or short term pay cuts of varying Sizes across the board

They are being very quiet about all of this. I have not seen much anywhere still.
