Canon and Océ launched the first solution developed jointly by Canon and Océ – the Imagepress C7010 VPS series – at Graphispag in Barcelona this week.

The jointly developed product signifies an important milestone in the compelling combination of Canon and Océ as it is evidence of the existing research and development (R&D) synergies, ensuring that Canon and Océ customers have access to leading technology in the industry. With this launch, Canon and Océ demonstrate that they are stronger together and aim to become the global leader in the print industry.

The Imagepress C7010VPS series takes colour production printing and workflow efficiency to the next level, offering customers the unique benefits of a press that combines Canon’s proven digital colour press technology with Océ Prismasync operation management. For print professionals, the merging of front end and printing press into one integrated system delivers offset-quality print and improves production efficiency with the convenience, run length and cost benefits of digital production.

The series introduces a number of unique productivity-boosting features, including an intelligent job scheduler and a media-based workflow that minimise downtime and increase the user’s freedom to plan ahead.

The Imagepress C7010VPS, Imagepress C6010VPS and Imagepress C6010S incorporate all of the features of the Imagepress C7010VP platform that was launched by Canon at Ipex in 2010. The advanced imaging and media-handling technologies and expanded media and finishing options deliver opportunities for greater profitability through increased productivity and flexibility, and are now complemented by Océ’s outstanding workflow and colour management solution.

The Océ Prismasync front end brings to the Imagepress C7010VPS series considerable processing power, the integrated Adobe® RIP, superb media handling and advanced colour management, enabling impressive RIP speeds and outstanding colour quality. The front end open workflow connectivity enables the systems to be seamlessly integrated into industry-standard workflows.

The Imagepress C7010VPS enables production to be accelerated even further, with intuitive operation and an intelligent job scheduler to boost productivity by supporting up to eight hours of plan-ahead production. The Océ PRISMA software facilitates a task-based workflow that allows prepress specialists to focus on document preparation while operators concentrate on production.

Users benefit from the unique, media-based workflow approach with one media catalogue for pre-press and production. Users submitting jobs select the correct media from the system’s detailed media catalogue with just one click. This tells the operator exactly which media to use and automatically configures the printer for the selected media. This media-driven operation enables the operator to prepare jobs ahead while minimising errors, turnaround time and waste.
