Canon fighting lawsuit after breach
Three separate class-action lawsuits have been consolidated to one class action suit filed in Eastern District Court of New York
- The plaintiffs are suing as a result of a ransomware attack that hit Canon in summer of 2020 that exposed personal financial information of current and past employees.
- Lawsuit claims that Canon failed to safeguard the confidential information, thus exposing employees to fraud and identity theft.
- Canon filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, but court terminated the motion.
