Canon Virginia Inc. plans to spend $27 million to expand its Newport News operation to add the manufacturing of toner for its copiers. The company will add 30,000 square feet as part of the investment. “The addition of toner manufacturing at the Newport News campus further solidifies the future viability of the plant and brings Canon Virginia’s total capital investment to more than $371 million in just the last four years,” Gov. Bob McDonnell said in a statement. McDonnell approved a $3 million performance-based grant for the project from the Virginia Investment Partnership Program, which is an incentive available to existing companies.
