MELVILLE, N.Y., Dec. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Launching into the New Year, the workforce is poised by thoughts of what will transform the workplace, what will shape the Office of the Future – and, most importantly, how will companies adapt? Advanced digital security protocols, expansion of cloud computing, and the disruption of artificial intelligence are three pivotal factors for companies to consider in their digital transformation strategies, which Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today addressed with an interactive panel, citing new statistical findings from an IDC survey, sponsored by Canon.

Sixty percent of enterprises will implement digital transformation strategies by 2020, according to the Canon-sponsored IDC study1. Discussing this and its implications, the panel, moderated by Aimee Groth, journalist for global business news site Quartz and author with Simon & Schuster, and hosted at notable shared workspace hub NeueHouse N.Y., included thought-provoking leaders from Canon, HOK, IDC, and The Ready. Together, they examined how architectural design, company culture, autonomy in the workplace, and technology will intertwine to play a pivotal role in the future of work and, ultimately, bolster employee well-being and productivity.

"The growing adoption of digital transformation initiatives and related transformative technologies will alter the very nature of work and radically change the workplace of the future," says Holly Muscolino, Research Vice President, Content Technologies and Document Workflow, IDC. "Organizations should leverage these initiatives to add intelligence and automation to routine business processes and workflows, off-loading mundane tasks and enabling information workers to focus on increased value and innovation."

Evaluating current workflow strategies to best understand how cloud, security, and other emerging technologies help drive business processes forward are imperative in this competitive market. In fact, digital security and cloud services are the most common in today's workplace with 69 percent of respondents saying that cloud services will be instrumental in boosting profitability and productivity in the next 2-5 years.

Canon itself is accomplishing this through various software development activities incorporating data analytics, AI, and imaging technologies to integrate into content management and collaboration solutions with Box and mxHero to realize new services to grow its solutions portfolio.

"The Office of the Future is not a distant concept; it is happening now," says Greg Ryan, vice president, corporate planning center, Canon Information & Imaging Solutions, Inc. "Companies need to find ways to pivot their existing workflow strategies to embrace the digital transformation, and a great way to accomplish that is by synthesizing emerging technologies with existing. This is how we can reach the full potential of the Office of the Future."
