Canon Australia has launched a new services business to take advantage of the $1 billion business process market.

The new business (Canon BPS) has been established after extensive market research which revealed customers are facing increasingly complex challenges around processes, competing internal resources, new technology trends and budget constraints.

Canon Australia managing director Takanobu "Taz" Nakamasu said the introduction of Canon BPS continued Canon Australia's evolution and recognised the changing needs of business customers, now and into the future, as they continued to look for ways to drive greater efficiencies within their businesses for greater profitability.

A recent IBIS World report valued the Australian business process market at more than $1 billion per year with incremental growth expected over the next two to three years.

Canon director, Craig Manson said the new business would quickly deliver value through its unique approach which draws on advisory, business process optimisation, document management, digitisation and automation, and business process outsourcing. "Areas of focus are any high impact transactional processes such as client on-boarding, contract management and mortgage applications," he said.

"What is important to point out is that we don't just automate, we optimise by delivering realistic solutions now and looking to what's possible for our customers, in the future." The new division will be led by Josh Watts as General Manager of Canon BPS.

Watts has worked with Canon Australia as GM of Sales Operation since 2011. He held previous roles at Telstra, Allens Linklaters and Accenture.
