the 2051-75 series has it also. But the main difference is that those LDAP capabilities only allow you to upload from an address book to the MFP. every time a change is made to the address book on the mailserver it has to be re-uploaded to the MFP. Global scan reads directly from the mailserver without actually importing/exporting to the MFP. It's also unlimited in the amount of e-mail addresses. It comes down to actual application. as to what would suffice.
