BRIDGEWATER, NJ, Apr 22, 2014 (Marketwired via COMTEX) -- Brother International Corporation, a leader in small and mid-sized business technology, today announced the availability of BR-Docs, a cloud-based document management service designed to help improve business processes, specifically for small to medium businesses (SMBs). The solution provides businesses with a simple, secure and reliable way to organize, store, sync and access digital files from a desktop or select mobile devices(1).

Building upon Brother's dedication to providing smart, secure, cloud-based solutions and services, BR-Docs offers an intuitive interface to enable quick and easy navigation. Users are able to simply drag and drop files from their computer straight into their BR-Docs workspace and view content from Apple(R) iOS or Android(TM) mobile devices over a wireless network(1).

BR-Docs allow users to:

-- Manage all files in one secure location. Users can control and create
groups, provide access and conduct key word searches to find files.
Users can also assign tasks to automate workflow management
-- Collaborate with colleagues by creating specific workspaces to invite
users, add documents, assign and manage content. Users can also
initiate discussions across the entire organization
-- Digitize documents by scanning and saving searchable files and provide
access to clients who are not BR-Docs users

BR-Docs is optimized to work with Brother hardware. By utilizing an award-winning(2) scan-to-cloud solution called 'Web Connect(3),' available on select Brother MFC's and Scanners, end-users can quickly scan paper documents to BR-Docs without the use of a PC. In addition to scanning, users can also easily print BR-Docs files to Brother devices. Web Connect will be available to BR-Docs users in the second quarter of 2014.

A free, 30 day BR-Docs trial is available at Brother Online.

"Cloud computing has dramatically helped to improve collaboration with employees both in the office and on the go," said Dan Waldinger, Director of Solutions and Services at Brother International Corporation. "BR-Docs is a comprehensive and secure cloud document management solution that can help business improve workflow efficiencies and ultimately promote a more productive work environment."

BR-Docs is now available for personal users at a subscription rate of $5 per month per user, up to three users. It is also available for premier users at a subscription rate of $8 per month per user for premier accounts, up to ten users. Online storage capability for both personal and group users is 25GB. Brother is preparing a professional version that will be available later in 2014.

With the release of BR-Docs, a sync tool, plug-in for Microsoft Office and a mobile application for Apple(R) iOS and Android(TM) are also available for download. The mobile application allows users to access the software and their documents virtually wherever they are over a wireless network.
