SAN FRANCISCO & LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2004--Today, Brother International Corporation introduces its next generation color laser printer - the new HL-2700CN. Featuring fast print speeds of up to 31 pages per minute in monochrome and up to 8 pages per minute in color, this new laser printer delivers a 27% smaller footprint than the model it replaces, excellent connectivity and compatibility, built-in networking, and a one-year limited on-site warranty. The HL-2700CN has an estimated street price of $899, and is expected to ship in January 2004.

PROFESSIONAL-QUALITY PRINTING FEATURES
Among the HL-2700CN's most important features is its ability to print high-resolution text and graphics in rich vibrant colors at fast speeds of up to 31 pages per minute in monochrome and up to 8 pages per minute in color. Additionally, the product utilizes high-yield replacement toner cartridges (10,000 pages for black, 6,600 pages for color*) that deliver a low cost per page while reducing user interventions. The printer also comes with 64MB of standard memory (upgradeable to 576MB(1)) and a 250-sheet letter size paper tray.
MULTI-PLATFORM COMPATIBILITY AND CONNECTIVITY
Whether the user environment is Windows® or Mac®-based, the HL-2700CN is compatible and features a variety of emulations including PCL®6, BR-Script3 (PostScript®3(TM)), IBM® Proprinter, Epson® FX, and HP-GL.
From everyday office color printing to presentations, the HL-2700CN delivers quick, crisp text and vibrant color output - regardless of the application. In addition, given its print speeds, it is also fast enough to serve as a "dual mode" printer for either color or monochrome printing, regardless of where it is located.
NETWORK-READY FOR WORKGROUP USE
The HL-2700CN comes standard with a built-in 10/100 BaseT Ethernet print server and a range of network management tools that make it easy for connected workgroups to set-up and begin using the printer immediately. This includes an embedded Web-server as well as two other powerful and flexible network management tools, BR-Admin Professional and Web-BRAdmin(2). The HL-2700CN also supports IPP (Internet Printing Protocol), as well as Apple's zero configuration networking technology, "Rendezvous(TM)".
EXPANSION OPTIONS(1)
The HL-2700CN has a number of expansion options to increase productivity and maximize user value. These include an optional duplex unit, as well as the ability to increase paper input capacity up to a total of 780 sheets by adding a 530-sheet lower paper tray. Another option is the CompactFlash(TM) slot that can accept an optional CompactFlash(TM) card for storing print jobs for fast reprinting, as well as for form or font storage.
