Brandweek Again Names Canon No. 1 in Customer Loyalty Award
Survey for Office Copier Product Category; Canon Number One Brand Among Surveyed in Addressing Customers' Needs, Values and Brand Expectation
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2005 For the fifth consecutive year, Canon U.S.A., Inc., the nation's market share brand leader in black-and-white and color laser copier/printer solutions(1), has ranked the number one in brand loyalty in the "Office Copier" industry category. 2005 marks the second year the ranking has been sponsored by Brandweek Magazine, and is included in the magazine's 2005 Brandweek Customer Loyalty Awards powered by Brand Keys survey(2).
The Brand Keys survey marks the ninth annual assessment of consumer purchasing behavior and intent, evaluating brands within industry segments to gauge which consumer values are driving future purchases and loyalty in the category. The survey is designed to predict future purchasing behavior as opposed to merely reflecting previous purchases.
"For the fifth year in a row, Canon is extremely pleased to receive this award, a distinction which identifies the Canon brand as being synonymous with quality, reliability, and ease-of-use," said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Canon U.S.A.'s Imaging Systems Group. "Our unwavering commitment to both technology innovation and customer retention keep Canon at the forefront of the document processing industry, and allow us to deliver state-of-the-art digital imaging systems and applications that meet the widest possible range of paper-and-digital, monochrome-and-color imaging needs."
Canon has dominated the black-and-white U.S. copier market, owning the number one share position for 22 of the last 23 years. It has also dominated the U.S. color copier market, with the number one brand share position for the past 18 consecutive years. Canon Inc., a patent technology leader ranked number three among global corporations in the U.S., is also widely recognized for innovations applied to its digital imaging products - specifically its copier and MFP product portfolios.
To further build customer loyalty, Canon U.S.A.'s Imaging Systems Group Customer Loyalty Program represents the office solution provider's largest end-customer direct communications program. Relying upon a database of customers from various sources, including dealer-supplied customer lists, the program applies customer profile information to deliver targeted direct mail and email communications, based on their history and needs.
Communications are co-branded and customized to feature the Canon brand alongside dealer names, logos and contact information. The program offers targeted information detailing solutions and services designed to maximize the efficiency of both existing and new Canon solutions. Canon's Customer Loyalty Program also emphasizes customer satisfaction measurement and results reporting.
About the 2005 Brandweek Customer Loyalty Awards powered by Brand Keys
Each year, the Brandweek Customer Loyalty Awards powered by Brand Keys evaluates brands within industry segments and assesses why customers continue to buy particular products and services. To compile the 2005 Customer Loyalty Awards list, Brand Keys, a New York-based brand and customer loyalty research consultancy, selected 10,200 consumers, 18 to 60 years of age, drawn from the nine U.S. Census Regions. Respondents were asked to self-select categories and brands they will evaluate.
Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Index, the basis of the 2005 Brandweek Customer Loyalty Awards powered by Brand Keys, determines (95 percent confidence level) which products and services people will buy in the coming 18 to 24 months. Brandweek magazine published the complete winners list in its May 23rd edition (http://www.brandweek.com). Full results may also be viewed at http://www.brandkeys.com.
