WHEELING, Ill. — May 27, 2009 — BOWE BELL + HOWELL is now shipping Ngenuity, a groundbreaking new production scanner that helps users across industries digitize a wide range of documents — from rice paper to plastic cards to stuffed envelopes to fetal monitoring strips — quickly and easily.
"This scanner truly is the smartest way to make paper history," said Russell Hunt, president of BOWE BELL + HOWELL Scanners. "Interest in Ngenuity has grown incrementally as more channel partners and end users have had a chance to see it in action at tradeshows, training sessions and customer events since its launch in March. Users have raved about Ngenuity's ability to scan their most challenging documents accurately and efficiently, and
requests for demo units have exceeded expectations, both in North America and around the world."
Faster, More Versatile Scanning
Ngenuity scans a wider range of documents than any other scanner in its class and it does so at best in class speeds — up to 150 pages per minute (ppm) at 200 dpi in color, bitonal and grayscale. While the scanner's rotary paper path allows users to scan most documents such as invoices, forms and contracts, Ngenuity's straight pass through paper path is the perfect alternative for scanning exception documents that might not make the turn through a rotary path. Users can scan very thick or stiff documents such as plastic cards, thick cardstock paper and stuffed envelopes, and long documents such as oil logs or EKG strips to exit through the back of the scanner.
Advanced Image Quality and Reliability
Ngenuity's SharpShooter(TM) Trilinear CCD cameras, white LED illumination system and on-board VRS 4.2 Professional combine to guarantee users high- quality digital images every time they scan. SharpShooter(TM) cameras ensure 600 dpi optical capture while the LED illumination, which requires no warm-up time, allow users to scan with optimal image quality from the moment they turn on the scanner. This translates into consistent image quality, higher OCR, ICR and barcode recognition rates and improved forms processing.
Further, Ngenuity includes a steel paper path and durable parts (including rollers that last for 600,000 scans, protectively sealed CCD cameras and long- lasting LED lighting), ensuring maximum scanner uptime and less time and money spent on maintenance.
Available exclusively through BOWE BELL + HOWELL's worldwide network of value-added resellers, Ngenuity comes with a 90-day on-site warranty (plus an additional nine months with registration) in the United States and Canada and a one-year depot warranty in all other countries. List prices start at $18,000 in the United States. For a limited time, Ngenuity 9150, a top model from the scanner series, will be available for $35,000 in the United States.
