I lost a "color contest" to the bizhub and it did do better color.

The way they were selling against the 2232/2238 series is saying that everything comes with their machine and tries to justify price that was twice as much initially.

I sold it like a buffet you choose the options you want and only pay for the options you want. I was the leader because the quality didn't justify the price. Then the Monica person dropped the price 10 grand!!!

Needless to say the quality matched the price and I lost it. I focused on service with this new prospect and had references but the quality and price were too much.

Yes, the Bizhub does do better color, it is 8 bit. If you position the Ricoh product as a black and white copier that does color you will have a better chance then if you try to compete toe to toe. Price is always an issue but what can be a greater factor is the black and white cost of the bizub. A very competitive dealer will quote .015 black and whit and .085 color. We have a program that charges .0129 per revolution with black toner included. The customer buys color toner and if they are doing any serious black and white volume then you should win when you pencil it out. That's what I was trying to explain in my previous posting. I will try to explain myself better next time..

Some of the findings I have found researching the BizHub Driver

  • In order to print with duplex, collate and staple. The user must go through nine clicks of the mouse.
  • 600 dpi only
  • Only one position and size for watermark
  • No Page Numbering
  • No Toner Save Feature
  • No Graphic
  • No Icon driven user interface that allows the customer to customize print settings and retain for later use. interface to add options
  • No Sample Print
  • No send to Document Server or Hard Drive for storage or so user can print document from the copier.
  • No Header/Footer/Adjust Image Positive/Binding Margins
