I have quite a large base of architects and engineers. I was there today and they are not interested in color. But it seems 2051c is pricey when it comes to what we had like the MP1600/MP1800 and then the 20 ppm blacl only series, geesh I can't even remember the model numbers!!

Anyway their HP M5025 is on the way out and they need a replacement. Volume is low at only 1,800 pages per month, the first thought was to add the paper tray to the W3601 for 11x17 prints however that was shot down because the W3601 is so far away from where the HP is, and the thought of moving the W3601 won't work either.

Since they are on time and materials with the M5025, I proposed the MPC2051, the MP2352SP and then the MP2550B w/print/scan. I figured that the customer would save almost .015 per back due to cost the of the consumables. I think that saved them around $33 per month or so. I could tell they were not exicited and I kept in mind that they could always go back to HP and order something similar (new) to their existing HP.

So, I tried a different strategy and then asked them if they "copy" 11x17, and the reply was that they did not. I then moved to offering them an 11x17 printer only and the new MP301SPF and thought they could cut another $1,000 for savings. I'm going to work the numbers tonight on this and see where they pan out.

I had thought about used, but our pricing for used equipment is....well...not that good. Thanx for info I'll post more on this when I run some numbers.

The only way that makes sense is if your company has negotiated a better cost across the board and they obviously are not passing that lower cost down to the reps. Any prospect that belongs to the Chamber of Commerce automatically qualifies for SAS2 cost (plus Dealership markup of course) under the TABS program (in the USA). The savings don't even have to be passed on to the customer, the dealer just gets a lower cost of goods just by proving the customer is a Chamber member. Why would a dealer not take advantage of that?
Looks like they are not aware of that, I'll have to check, that's why it's always good to talk about this stuff, thanx for the heads up on this. I'm betting it's not passing through to us for some reason. Maybe we can get together with PM's and compare costs?
