Bay Copy, a leading provider of digital document solutions, celebrated its 40th anniversary this month with an Open House that included presentations by the Massachusetts Legislature and the South Shore Chamber of Commerce.
Nearly 100 people turned out for the Open House held at Bay Copy headquarters at 100 Reservoir Drive, Rockland. Ray Belanger, President/CEO, thanked the crowd for their support and credited his father, Ray Belanger, Sr., who started the company in 1972 and ran it for the first twenty years before transitioning ownership to his son, with the strong drive, work ethic and know-how to build a business. Ray Belanger, Sr. and his wife, Barbara, were among the guests at the event.
The Bay Copy CEO also cited the hard work and dedication of his team, noting that most of them had been with the company for many years. He recalled the changes that the industry has seen, going from analog to digital, and then into Managed Print Services, and noted how far the company had come from the early days when they sold duplicating machines and repaired typewriters. Today, Bay Copy is a leader in the area of Managed Print Services, providing the right combination of equipment and technology to help companies save on their document generation costs.
Peter Forman, CEO of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, lauded Ray Belanger and Bay Copy for its many contributions to the economy of the South Shore and for participation in the Chamber. Belanger serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the South Shore Chamber and is a member of the organization's executive board.
"Ray has been a strong presence at the Chamber and Bay Copy has earned a reputation as an excellent business in this region," said Forman, who also noted that the company has many national connections, including Belanger's serving on the Board of Directors of the Select Dealer Group, a national trade association of office product/office equipment dealers.
Lauren Scribi from the office of State Representative Rhonda Nyman (D-Hanover) also praised the work and sense of community that Bay Copy has provided, and presented a citation to the 40-year old company for its contributions to the Massachusetts economy on behalf of the Massachusetts legislature. State Senator John Keenan also sent a letter of congratulations to Bay Copy on its milestone anniversary.
The company traces its roots to 1972 when the senior Belanger created the company under the name Bay State Business Products. Originally located in Abington, the business eventually re-located to Rockland and today the business operates from its own two-story facility in Rockland, near the Exit 14/Route 3 interchange. The company has evolved to meet the changing industry and added to its market with the 2001 acquisition of the Norwood, MA company AdCom. With a client base that is diverse and includes Ocean Spray, Jack Conway, MIT, Harvard Vanguard, Cumberland Farms, and many more, the company has become known as an industry leader.
Bay Copy has won a number of industry awards, including placement on the prestigious "Elite Dealers" list, sponsored by the national industry journal The Week in Imaging. In 2003, Bay Copy was named "Re-Seller of the Year" by the national Business Technology Association, selected from a field of 3000 applicants. Other awards include "Applications Dealer of the Year" from Konica Business Technologies; the Business Technology Association Award of Excellence; the South Shore Chamber of Commerce's Success Profiles award; and the United States Chamber of Commerce's Blue Chip Initiative Enterprise award. Bay Copy has also served as a host site for visiting dignitaries from worldwide offices of Konica Business Technologies, now known as Konica Minolta.
